Some of the activities that the department has been involved in over the past year.

Regular videoconferencing link between OSFC students and students of a French college in Clermont Ferrand based on topics chosen for oral exam.

Exchange trip to Le Mans December, including 3 days work experience in primary schools

March - Year 12 students attend French study conference at Salford University

Other Activities

October - department hosts PGCE students from Manchester Metro University.

October - visit to Fairfield School to talk to students about languages at OSFC

November - visit to Matthew Moss School to talk to students about languages at OSFC

14th November 2001 - initiation of Modern Languages Awareness Event, with 6 speakers from north west universities and Steven Fawkes (President of Association for Languages Learning and BBC Languages). 280 Year 11 and Year 12 students from the local area attended.

February - 30 students from South Chadderton school use department's facilities

19th March - intensive GCSE oral preparation day for Year 11 students from local schools.

June - course for Gifted and Talented year 9 students from local schools.

July - half day courses to help post-GCSE students prepare for the start of AS level studies in September.
