Unit A2

Indices

Indices are important in AS maths. They are often embedded in the middle of a harder question and it is expected that you will be familiar with them.

DO THESE QUESTIONS WITHOUT A CALCULATOR. If you simply use a button on your calculator to work out these questions it will not add to your understanding.
If you work with the numbers themselves you will begin to appreciate their structure (and even beauty).
You will know what 27 and 81 have in common and be able to work out the square root of ¼ without any problems.

Unit A2.1 Positive Integers

Unit A2.2 Negative Indices

Unit A2.3 Fractional Indices
