The Media

The Media is an obvious method of putting pressure on Parliament. You may remember TV news reports of the lorry drivers blockade of September 2000 concerning petrol prices, or even the campaign by the Sun newspaper to ‘name and shame’ paedophiles following the tragic murder of 9 year old Sarah Payne in August 1999? These are two examples of how the media can put pressure on the Government to change the law.
