| Here
are some services which could help our neighbours. |
 |
Occupational therapist – usually works for the health
or social services. Helps people to achieve as much independence
in their lives as possible after illness or disability.
Can give advice on aids and appliances for the home.

Respite
care – this gives a break to informal
carers. Usually the person they are caring for at home
is offered a short stay in a residential home, a holiday,
or care from a paid carer in their own home for a few
hours or longer. This gives the informal carer a chance
for some freedom and rest from their responsibilities.

and who helps the client to work out the best way forward
through their problems.

organiser – someone who helps to find
voluntary work for those who have time to devote to the
needs of others.
|

group – a group of people who share the same
needs or difficulties, where they can swap information on experiences,
and help themselves and each other to get the best possible
help from the caring services.
