Task 2 Hazards and Risks

Many materials that you use and activities that you complete as you study science will have associated hazards and risks.

1. Complete the Table on Task Sheet 2 to explain the hazards and risks associated with the materials and processes listed.
   
2. Health and Safety Regulations require that substances used in laboratories, in the workplace, and at home must display standard hazard symbols in a prominent place on the container. Complete the Intranet activity on Hazard Symbols and then complete Table 1 on Task Sheet 3.
   
3. During your course you will use a number of different chemicals, some of which are listed in Table 2 on Task Sheet 3. Research information about the chemicals listed using an appropriate source and state at least one hazard of each.
   
4. Make a list of at least six hazardous substances and materials used at home and identify the hazard.
