Unit 1 – Investigating Leisure and Tourism

Introduction

In this unit you will learn about the huge variety of facilities and organisations that are involved in the leisure and tourism industries. You will understand what products and services these organisations offer and how they meet the needs of their customers. You will also learn how these organisations can work together to provide improved products and facilities.

Leisure can be defined as

‘ The wide ranging activities that we do in our spare time. Or in other words when we are not at work, school or college’

Tourism can be defined as

‘ The temporary, short-term movement of people to destinations outside the places where they normally live and work. It includes the activities that people do during their stay at these destinations’
