Chemistry Links

Here are some websites that you will be able to use as part of the programmed work.

Alternatively you could use them yourself to look at various revision topics.

BBC Bite Size

This site deals with a wide range of revision materials and also allows you to test yourself. Subjects included are:

Changing materials Geology, Patterns of behaviour, Structures of materials

It also gives details of the Bitesize Chemistry programmes to be shown on BBC2.

Plate tectonics -

Rock cycle experiments-

More Useful Links

This site is linked to many others, some of which specifically cover chemistry and others have more general connections. Care should be taken when exploring the links as a number contain material which is beyond that needed for GCSE. You may like to look at these out of interest, of course, or in preparation for courses you intend to take after GCSE.

Computer Assisted Learning in Chemistry

This is a developing site which covers a number of topics on Basic Level Chemistry which are very suitable for GCSE. A number of topics contain extensive revision notes, some of which are animated where appropriate to aid understanding. There are also some opportunities to test yourself on the topics.

Games and Quizzes

Various games and quizzes designed to test your chemistry knowledge on a variety of different topics.

Applications of Chemistry in Industry

This deals with the extraction of iron from iron ore and the process of steelmaking. It contains written information, pictures, quick questions and some interactive exercises.

The site also deals with several other useful topics for GCSE Chemistry. These are Fossils into Fuels and The Periodic Table.
