BIOLOGY EXCELLENCE
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM.

All tissues and organs need oxygen to survive. The brain demands the most oxygen. This is a major problem for climbers who are above 5800 meters.
A low level of oxygen reaching the body tissues is called hypoxia. At extreme altitude, most people experience a decrease in appetite, breathlessness at rest, muscular fatigue and a falling off of mental capacity. As climbers press on to greater heights, brain tissue receives even less oxygen and a bizarre mental state occurs.

Now try the sections on the respiratory system on these two sites and complete the tests. Good luck
